“Tony Duquette own a guideline: Always placed a big couch in the farthest part of the space; it beckons you towards it with open arms.”— Peter Dunham

If you have many items to sell, a garage sale can be a good place to sell your couch, since such sales usually draw a good crowd of people looking for exactly this kind of bargain. Consider placing your used couch in a church, community center, or school rummage sale. Your participation might involve little more than hauling it there, which eliminates any worry about organizing a sale on your own. Consider this if your sofa happens to be the only item you need to sell.

Now don’t just shove a bunch of cotton batting in there because it will result in a lumpy cushion. Instead, take off the cover (most sofas these days have removable covers) and wrap the cushion in a layer or two of quilt batting or foam wrap. If you find it shifts around a bit secure it using a spray adhesive. And if you find there are still a few saggy spots, now is the time to fill them with extra pieces of cotton batting. Easy peasy.

Your final product will end up looking really puffy and overstuffed, but the fill will start to settle after a few weeks, so you want to pack it as full as you can. Next, move on to the seat cushions. Remove the cover and set to the side, and vacuum the cushions to get rid of any deteriorating foam.

Buttery soft saddle leather creates a cushioned, hyper-comfortable couch that demands your guests’ attention. Pair with rich bronze accessories, and don't forget to add texture using rugs, blankets, and greenery—otherwise, you risk the bold leather overwhelming the space.

To achieve a Scandi-inspired, minimalist look, pair a set of slouchy square pillows in one corner of the sofa (preferably one solid and one patterned), and prop a smaller, rectangular-shaped pillow in the center of the other cushion. Instead of predictably tucking a single pillow into the corner of your sofa, why not take inspiration from Cottage Cloth and place a set facing inward? We love her choice of contrasting striped fabric, too.
