If you like napping on your sofa, make sure that the arms are the right height. Make sure the cushions and the back are as soft or firm as you want them to be.

What makes a kiln-dried frame better is that the process gets rid of most of the moisture inside the wood. Kilns are huge ovens with very strictly controlled temperatures and humidity. The kiln drying process can remove approximately 93% of the wood's moisture.

The term sculpture is very broad, but basically, it means any item that isn‘t a traditional piece of art (i.e. painting or photograph). It could be an interesting architectural piece such as a bracket, a sculptural wall sconce, faux antlers, or anything else you find that speaks to you. The key here is to look for pieces that don‘t have a lot of depth so they won’t infringe on the space out over the sofa.

With $20 worth of spray paint, and an enviable abundance of confidence, the tenant gave this old piece a fresh new face. While most of us haven´t made over a whole couch, I´m sure many of us have found random furniture in our homes—and it probably needs at least a little work.

English arms are low-profile and suitable if you like to take naps on your sofa. They are also good for small spaces, as they don‘t project beyond the body of the sofa. The front part of a pleated sofa arm is covered by fabric that is continued from the inside of the arm.

Simply determine the lines of the sofa you want to accent and then nail in the tacks (try to place them at even intervals of roughly ½ inch). Just be sure to choose a solid part of the frame so you’ve got a solid foundation to nail the trim into. And it should go without saying that you cannot do this on a slipcovered piece – only on one that’s upholstered.

A single-cushion seat offers a tidy, minimal look but also can be combined with a pillow back, which is more about casual comfort than minimalism. When you sit down on one end of a good single cushion, it will not rise up on the other end.

Two small square tables, placed side by side, give a slightly more formal look than the more modern large coffee table. A matched pair looks best, but a mismatched set of small tables, of exactly the same height, can be used together with matching tops. If you have a pair of small antique tables, this may be the perfect place to use them. For a very rustic or Cottage Style home, a long, low, wooden bench is a perfect touch. The long flat top works well for placing books and beverages without adding too much formality.
