Don´t assume that it will be same day delivery or next day delivery because different retail stores have different policies regarding furniture delivery. Maybe they deliver only certain days of the week or the warehouse in a different location. Even if that is the case, delivery will be speedier than if you were to order a customized sofa. However, you should ask your salesperson about delivery before you commit to a sofa purchase.

Pads made out of a Dacron polyester fiber and down, known as Blendown pads, are wrapped around high-density foam. These pads can also be used with springs that have been wrapped up in foam. High-density foam surrounds the springs, which are then wrapped in down pads. The result is a soft surface with a strong, resilient support inside. This is a good option because the cushions do not lose their shape easily.

A small amount of spray adhesive applied to the foam can help the batting stick to it so it stays in place once you put the covers back on. In fact, it‘s comparable only to space above a mantle. That being said, what kind of art should go there? Should it be a painting? A photograph? While most people stick with the traditional solution of hanging a single painting or photograph above a sofa, there are plenty more options to choose from.

Just as your sofa shouldn’t be too big or too small for your space, it shouldn’t be too big or too small for you, either. These sofa buying tips have less to do with fabric selection and focus more on another aspect of sofa buying, namely, the quality of a sofa. The frame should not wobble or creak, it should be sturdy and sit squarely on the floor. Wobbly or creaky frames mean less sturdy joints, while a strong frame means your sofa will last you longer.

One of the downsides of some low-profile couches can be the lack of space between the bottom of the couch and the floor. While this legless aesthetic works beautifully in larger rooms, smaller rooms need a visual separation—a.k.a. actual couch legs—to keep the space airy. Joybird's Hughes Sofa pulls this look off wonderfully. The couch remains low enough to keeping the ceilings feeling sky-high, but isn't so blocky that it crowds smaller living spaces.

I usually recommend starting with the largest and most expensive item, which, in the case of a living room or family room, is usually the sofa. The sofa is usually a focal point, the seating area most often used, and, if the wrong choice is made, the source of the most complaint. It's important to chose the right sofa style and size for your design.

A photo gallery can allow you to create a really dramatic impact and it saves you from having to choose just one piece. Just remember when hanging pieces to create a gallery wall that all the items together will act as one unit. The center of the entire display should be at eye level. It's always best to plan this type of display before you start hanging. Place the pieces on the ground in front of the wall and play around with the arrangement until you find one that satisfies you. If space doesn't allow for this use graph paper.

As homeowners are gearing furniture selections to comfort, the ottoman has taken center stage in front of many sofas. Really, an ottoman is just a large padded or upholstered stool or bench. It's a perfect piece to use in front of a sofa, as its soft top offers comfort for legs, the upholstery fabric contributes color and texture to the room, and the large flat to is ideal for placing a tray or books.
