A large built frame, a pair of cement columns, interesting sculptures, or large pots can serve as a stable base for a piece of 1/2 inch thick beveled-edge plate glass, cut to the perfect size. This is a good option for a very small space, as you can place the bases as close together or as far apart as you wish and have the glass cut to fit your space. Keep in mind that the larger the glass, the heavier it will be. So the bases need to be sturdy enough to support the weight.

I love the drama of the black wall and the way it makes the newly brown couch pop almost as if it‘s orange. I will always love fussy furniture painted in a solid color, and that glossy black coffee table is one of the best versions out there. The rug is a fabulous anchor to a primarily black-and-white room. The molded chair is the perfect combination of black, white, and wood, and it enhances the mid-century modern appeal of the sofa.

A small amount of spray adhesive applied to the foam can help the batting stick to it so it stays in place once you put the covers back on. If possible, have someone help you put the covers back on the cushions. All those layers of batting make it a tight fit- but that is what you're looking for, so ask someone to lend a hand to make your job less painful.

Place a piece of 1/2 inch thick beveled-edge plate glass on top of the iron for a smooth surface. You can see that you can use almost anything for a coffee table. Keep in mind that the piece should be sturdy, properly proportioned, and durable, and it will give you great wear and convenience in any room.

There are always budget considerations to be sure, but buying a good quality sofa ensures that you don’t have to replace it within a couple of years. Buying a good quality sofa saves you money in the long run. Buy the best quality you can afford as buying a poor quality sofa means that it will lose its shape, looks and comfort factor pretty quickly, sometimes within a matter of months. A poor quality frame can also cause it to break, and you will have arms that jiggle and legs that aren't steady.

Knowing how to identify each main part and its variations can help you describe the sofa you want to a salesperson or designer. Understanding the basics of sofa construction can make you a shrewd judge of sofa quality. The arms define the ends of a sofa and play a critical role in the overall look and function of the piece.

Even after you narrow down the style and fabric, you still have to consider height. Luckily, low-profile sofas are making a comeback in a big way—and they're ideal for transforming a small room into a cavernous escape. Dress up your living room with one of these low-slung models. You may find swapping out your tall, oversized sofa for these shorter, sleeker versions makes your space feel airy and bright.

Think seriously about this couch and its intended use. Will it be a one-size-fits-all, everyone-is-welcome (including Fido!) family couch? Consider microfiber upholstery, which can handle a bit of rough-housing. Definitely don’t pick silk, which will rip the second your kitten’s claws come out. Or are you hoping to order a showcase piece for your formal living room? Go for silk, or pick something with a lot of texture.

Start from the entry, then move on to all the passages, hallways, staircases, or doors that your sofa will pass through to get to where it is supposed to go. Make sure to leave a few extra inches for maneuvering your furniture.

When you customize a sofa by selecting a different fabric, arm, back or size then you are looking at a delivery date that is anywhere from 4 to12 weeks in the future, usually. Often you may find that it takes even longer. A lot of customers try to pressure the store for earlier delivery and then get upset when the sofa is not delivered by the requested delivery date. It doesn´t work out for the customer, and it doesn‘t work out for the store because there are two things wrong with this scenario: a store making a promise that it cannot keep and a customer setting herself up for disappointment.
