Since you always want to place furniture so that it faces the focal point. across from a mantel is the perfect place to put a sofa. Across from another sofa - Since visual balance is so important, there´s no better place to put a sofa than facing another (preferably matching) sofa. In small rooms, this isn´t usually possible, but in larger rooms where space can accommodate, it‘s a layout worth considering.

Not too shabby! For the seat cushions, I simply wrapped quilt batting around the entire seat and stuffed it back into the covers. Placing the fill behind the existing cushion will help to keep everything looking smooth. Pack the Poly-fil in like you're stuffing a turkey.

This isn’t a sofa hack per se, but sometimes you can completely update a piece simply by changing what’s around it. Try some new art on the wall over the sofa, some new wallpaper on the wall behind it, or even new side tables and lamps on either side of it. When it's surrounded by different and beautiful things, your sofa might just look a little different and beautiful too!

The term sculpture is very broad, but basically, it means any item that isn‘t a traditional piece of art (i.e. painting or photograph). It could be an interesting architectural piece such as a bracket, a sculptural wall sconce, faux antlers, or anything else you find that speaks to you. The key here is to look for pieces that don‘t have a lot of depth so they won’t infringe on the space out over the sofa.

Now that you have considered the frame and seating support, it is time to look at what kind of filling is used for the cushions. The most common filling is high-density polyurethane. The higher the density, the firmer the cushion will be. Foam can be wrapped in softer material or cotton to make it softer. Dacron-wrapped foam is the cheapest option, but it won’t last as long.
