Before you even think of buying a sofa, you need to measure your home. Start from the entry, then move on to all the passages, hallways, staircases, or doors that your sofa will pass through to get to where it is supposed to go. Make sure to leave a few extra inches for maneuvering your furniture.
If you plan to use it as the primary sleeping surface for yourself, look into the type of mattress that comes with it. As you are no doubt aware, sleepers come with many different types of mattresses, some using specialty materials, some come with inner-springs and others are air beds. Try and find one with a mattress type you are happy using. Also look for a mechanism that opens and closes easily.
Test many different styles, and make sure to try them out in a way you would use a sofa at home. Do you like to sit with your legs curled up? Do you like to lie down on it? Do you feel happiest sitting in the center? Consider the height and depth of the seat. For taller people, it is best to have deeper seats. If you find it hard to rise from a seated position, try a shallower seat.
This has a velour-like cover that zips to be fully displaced, however, the joined tag states that both the cushion and the foam should be "spot-cleaned" only and no washer or dryer. As for sinking in or heat, my place is air-conditioned and I'm understandably slim, so no criticisms there, I have a thin waterproof-fabric/fill pad on it, which might also improve heat a bit?As an exclusive side-sleeper, I sink just quite and don't bottom out.
It might be a bit wider than your lazy sofa's old spring cushion or maybe it's that foam bumps more than an innerspring while flexed, with a watertight cover and sheets on it, I have to be more concerned that they don't get caught in the tool when opening or closing. My sofa has a fabric cover sheet holding the cushions, and when the bed is open, it maintains the lower third of the cushion. So I don't think the bar at the 1/3 point much to begin with, but I feel it less now a tiny bit if I concentrate on it than I did with the old cushion.
