Sofas are meant for sitting, not sleeping. Although it's tempting to sleep—and sometimes you can't help dozing off—your sofa was not designed for it. Eventually, the frame and the cushion will sag and deteriorate because of the prolonged use. So while a nap now and then is fine, if you´re settling in for a full 8 hours do yourself a favor and make the trip to the bedroom.
Once the couch arrives, get out your smartphone and snap away. Fingers crossed your delivery happens without issues and your new couch is a pristine dream — but you'll want full documentation if anything goes awry. From the movers scratching your hardwood floors to receiving an already scratched sofa, be prepared to document.
Consider the couch's structure, too. A traditional, wood-framed couch may be a terrible choice for a home with kids — sharp corners have caused many emergency rooms worth of boo-boos. If there are little feet playing chase around your living room, consider soft, upholstered edges. Once you've settled on a size and style, start scouring the web. Leave no website unturned. There are a number of places to buy couches online (you can even hit up stores like Amazon or Target, which have a surprising selection, if you´re on a tight budget).
