Each fabric is going to feel different, and it will add in a very different way to the overall feel of a sofa. You may like the look of heavily textured fabrics, but do you like the feel of them? Does a surface feel too slick? Do you like the sound leather makes when you shift your weight on it? Sit on different fabrics long enough till you find one that is right for you. This is especially important if it is going to be "the sofa," that special one that is used all the time.
Every time you buy a new sofa, measure it before handing over the cash. You should also measure the space where you plan to put it. If you are buying online, find out all these dimensions before you buy. There are a couple of important reasons for doing this.
It makes sense to reupholster if your sofa is very high quality or has an unusual frame. Quite possibly, the cost of reupholstering it would be less than buying a new sofa of comparable quality. This is not very often the case, but it is possible you may have a perfectly good sofa that can be brought back to life by just re-covering with a new fabric.
The Rule: You Must Have a Sofa in the Living Room When was the last time you saw a living room that didn‘t have a sofa? Unless you work in the design industry day in with day out, it‘s probably been a while. That´s because over the years sofas have become the heart of the living room. It´s often the first piece people buy together with then they decorate around it. Sofas are great because you get flexible seating for a few people at a time, in–conjunction with they set the foundation for the entire room.
