Now comes the fun part: actually holding bits and pieces of your potential new couch in your hand. Once you've narrowed down your sofa color and fabric selections. Choose a few different selections: pick a range of similar colors, or trial a shade in both microfiber and velvet. Once you have the fabric samples in-hand, don´t make your decision immediately. Gut instinct may be valuable, but so is thoughtful consideration. The perfect color and fabric depends on the color of your hardwood floors, the exact shade of white you´ve slathered on your walls, the other furniture in your room — and even the sunlight.
But hopefully, everything will turn out wonderfully — and any minor problems will be quickly corrected. Once your new couch is settled into its home, grab a blanket, pop some popcorn and enjoy the comfiest, coziest Netflix-and-chill experience ever. The golden rule of sofa cost vs. quality is that a low- to mid-priced sofa should last about 10 years, while higher priced sofas should last 25 years or more. But sadly, most people don't take proper care of their sofas, and as a result, even high-quality pieces can get old before their time. Most people don´t want to ruin their sofas, but if you´re doing any of these things, that‘s exactly what will happen.
One of the downsides of IKEA products is that, unless you want to spend more on IKEA‘s furniture building service, you must assemble it yourself. While many find the directions easy to read and follow, others find the minimal directions frustrating. The cushions come vacuum sealed and require two to three days to inflate fully before they can be used and the sofa cover must be ironed which is no small task.
