Engineered wood is just what the name implies. It has been engineered to achieve its present form. There are two types of engineered wood, plywood, and particle board. Particle board is not suitable for sofa frames, or any weight bearing frames for that matter because they are made from wood chips and fibers glued together. Plywood is engineered by gluing several thin layers of wood together and can be strong enough for sofa frames depending on the type of wood, and the thickness of the frame.
Selecting the wrong fabric for your sofa can be an expensive mistake. Make your fabric selection based on how the sofa will be used, and where you will be placing it. If you are buying your sofa for an area of your home that is heavily used, a delicate fabric or color would be destroyed even before you’ve had a chance to enjoy it.
There‘s a common tendency to want to push sofas up against the wall. In some rooms this is necessary due to size restrictions, however, in the majority of cases, there’s room to pull the sofa away from the wall. If this is the case in your home give it a try. It’s amazing what a difference it can make when the sofa has some breathing room.
